RedStar is the artist name of vocalist, songwriter, producer and arranger Jane Reeves.
Her musical career has spanned recording, songwriting, arranging, and live performance, with vocal work including The Future Sound of London / Amorphous Androgynous and Freak Power, alongside numerous sessions and collaborations.
As a vocalist, she has worked extensively with producer Hal Ritson, and her voice has also appeared in television work including Sky’s Tom Gates, providing the singing voice for Catherine Tate’s Mrs Worthington.
Writing and arranging have always run alongside performing, with Jane equally at home building vocal arrangements, producing sessions or writing original material. Her influences span soul, gospel, disco, electronic music, and house, with a particular love for records where the vocal is part of the groove rather than simply sitting on top of it.
RedStar’s collaboration with Chewy Rubs brings that background firmly onto the dancefloor, combining original songwriting and vocals with the deeper, slower house and disco sound that feels like a natural home for her music.
